Our story

It started at a library table at the Colorado School of Mines. We were supposed to be studying. Instead, between belly laughs and barely any work getting done, Ira asked Heather on a date.

Nine years later, we've grown up side by side. We've traveled and eaten our way around the world, welcomed our pup Zuko, moved into our first home, and collected more memories than we can count.

Through it all, Ira has had a way of bringing calm to any situation, and Heather has never stopped finding new ways to make him laugh. Life together is brighter, funnier, and lighter. Somewhere in the middle of all of it, we became the best versions of ourselves.

At the end of 2025, Ira proposed at Château Eza in the South of France, in a moment straight out of a fairytale. It was the easiest yes, and the perfect beginning to forever.

Then came 2026, and our biggest challenge yet: a year apart, with more miles between us than we've ever known. While Ira serves on deployment in Egypt, we've learned that love doesn't only live in the big moments. It lives in the late-night FaceTime calls, the early alarms set just to say good morning, the TikToks we screen-share from opposite ends of the world, and the days we cross off one at a time.

This year has held both things at once: deep joy for what we have, and an ache for the person we're missing. But distance hasn't slowed us down. If anything, it's made every plan we've made for our future feel more certain — and this wedding mean more to us than we ever imagined. We can't wait to be in the same room again, surrounded by the people we love most.

Our story hasn't unfolded the way we expected, but we've come to love it that way.

As we begin this next chapter, we're looking forward to the small things as much as the big ones: more adventures, more laughter, more noodle soup, and a lifetime of coming home to each other.
